Snack & Healthy Eating

 snack1

Children are served snack every day. As a healthy school, there is a variety of foods on offer, which children can choose from. We ensure snack time caters for all children’s tastes, needs and dietary requirements (including allergies). We serve milk and/ or water to drink. Parents are asked to contribute £1 per week towards the cost of snack.

Healthy eating, food preparation and cooking activities form part of our weekly planning. To enhance this, we are part of the Phunky Food initiative. To celebrate and recognise the work we have done, we were invited to present our experiences at the Phunky Food event in July 2019. There are some lovely recipes to make with children – please click this link for more information.

The Knobbly, Wobbly, Bobbly Celeriac - we were delighted to be chosen as the Nursery School in Cumbria to be part of a promotional video for Phunky Foods. Please click this link to see our children taking part in a teaching session, one of our former Governors talking about the initiative and parents attending a Phunky Foods workshop.

Children who stay for lunch are required to bring their own healthy packed lunch. Drinks are provided in school (milk and/  or water). Please see the leaflet for suggestions.

Please be aware, we are a NUT FREE school, as we have children and staff who have a severe allergy to nuts.
